This is the first month of the year. Almost everyone is finding a reason to start new things for their mind, body, and spirit. This is great! However, let me encourage you on your way. Make sure your new goals are not necessarily comfortable, but make sure they fit. Do they fit your purpose? Do they fit your time? and does it really fit your health goals. As business people. we should consider these things.
For instance, we realize that entrepreneurs and non-profit leaders spend 60% longer than the average worker. This means we must be more concerned about our health, and less concerned about the amount of projects we do. Since we have limited time to do so. Then we are obligated to think quality not quantity. This may mean that you need to raise your rates so that you can get paid what you are worth. You are no good to anyone if you are dead tired all the time from trying to make ends meet. It takes no rocket science to explain that being tired decreases your cognitive abilities.
I realized this after a season of working at night and having little time to complete my others projects. On a 10 to 12 hour shift, my brain was not as functional by the 9th hour. I ended up creating strategies to keep my energy or alertness up. No matter what I did. I would end up paying for it later. On the other hand, the job ended up delaying my projects, limiting my sleep, and leaving little time to do anything else that was important. We don’t have to experience this if we practice making our lives fit correctly. We should be getting fit. I don’t mean working out, but think about your goals wisely and actually making wise decisions, and acting on them efficiently. How are you getting fit? Let me know in the comment section.
This summer has been amazing! I have gathered plenty of professional advice from a couple of successful business leaders. One guy was from Florida. He owned a Yacht, a mansion, several homes, and cars. He had a nice family and owned several properties throughout the United States, but here he was talking to little ol’ me. Yes, he worked in real estate, but that was not the key to his success. Instead, he told me what a local widow also said concerning her husband. Her husband was a simple carpenter who managed to own acres of land by a lake, and leave her with assets for a lifetime. The widow and the real estate owner both proclaimed “success comes from discipline.”
People who are not successful in business are because they are not disciplined. This is in regards to your money, your time, your networking, and your customer service. So let’s dive right in. We’ve been taught that we must save and not waste our money. Well, the silver lining of this is although it seems like you can’t afford to save. You can and you must! Why? Because you will eventually have to pay taxes, and you will eventually have to retire. So save now and stick to the plan. This is why you create a business plan and a personal budget. Some people may not like your diligence and your dedication to your your saving lifestyle, but I imagine those will be the same people who would love to go on vacation with you when you are a successful business person. So stay dedicated to the vision. Now if the plan changes then fine. The point is, make a new concrete plan and stick to it. There are plenty of resources to aide you in this discipline.
Study your success patterns. If you need to wake up early in the morning (5AM) and go to bed on time (8-10PM) to be successful. Then do that! This is the pattern of most successful people. They stay up late ONLY when there is absolutely no other alternative to finishing the project by deadline. Consider paying someone or gathering volunteers for projects so that you can stick to the plan. Regardless, don’t allow simply things to hender you from staying disciplined. Staying disciplined means not compromising with other peoples feelings, activities, or time for the sake of your loss. It means you respect you enough to maintain your own personal integrity. One of my disciplines is constant engagement on social media publicly and privately. I have also decided that if I’m going to give one customer outstanding customer service. Then I must make sure to strive to do that with every person I come in contact with. As a young business owner, this advice was something I needed to here. “Be disciplined” I hope it inspires you just as it has me, because staying discipline is truly the biggest asset to your business and to your life. Honestly, a branding strategy may come in different ways. There is gorilla marketing, which is simply being unique in bringing attention to your product. There is also marketing and branding where you enjoying being second place. Yes, second place really works. You don’t compete with who is number one, but you compete with the rest of the industry. Just think about it! Who is second place to Apple? AT&T? General Motors? Wal-Mart? Whoever it is, they are still making a lot of money. However, the branding I want to discuss today is the branding before you get to this level.
Many entrepreneurs strive to market a product by convincing the world why your product is the best. This is good, but you should consider saving and perfecting this for you elevator pitch, sponsors, or your shark tank experience. Let me tell you why!
Right now you are your brand. Therefore, how you interact on social media, how you carry yourself in public, your network, and spending habits all are a reflection of your brand. You don’t want to sale yourself as annoying or cheap. For instance, if all you do on your Facebook page is market your products, your friends will either support you 100%, or unfollow you. Some of you may say “oh well” Im going to do it like this and they can unfollow me if they want to, but that is a prideful approach and you are losing money, losing time, and your audience. A great entrepreneur thinks from the perspective of the consumer. Therefore, to build your brand consider posting relative content for the viewing of your customers, interactive content concerning your brand, and positive things concerning yourself.
When people think of me they either think of my business or my ministry. When they think of either of these. They think about the quality and results. The quality of the product should sale itself. You are not responsible for selling the quality. You are responsible for selling or revealing you. So now ask yourself the question: What does my brand look like? How may I improve or change my branding strategy? Please post your thoughts concerning this article below including other things you think about concerning branding. One of the most common struggles that I have with clients is not about what they don’t like. It’s not even the fact that some clients can be passively or aggressively difficult.
